Buddy Break is a FREE Parent’s Day Out/Respite program where kids with special needs and their siblings make new friends in a safe and loving environment, while their caregivers get a much-needed break.

What is buddy Break?

Buddy Break is a not for profit program developed by Nathaniel's Hope which celebrates kids with special needs (our VIPs) as well as educates and equips communities and churches to provide FREE respite care and programs to enrich the lives of VIP families.

At Buddy Break, VIP kids and their siblings make new friends, play games, do crafts, hear children’s stories, enjoy music, and more! Meanwhile, parents get a break from their ongoing care-giving responsibilities, usually for three hours on a Friday night or Saturday morning.

One weekend a month, parents and older siblings are given the opportunity to have their child with special needs dropped off in a caring, safe Christian environment for three hours. The kids, called "VIPs" for Very Important People, can play games, experience the joy of just having fun while their parents can shop, go to lunch, or just enjoy peace and quiet!

Like many families with children who have special needs, Nathaniel’s care was very involved – twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week – filled with sleepless nights, feeding tubes, medications, doctor’s visits, therapies, and needless to say, a great deal of stress.
