King of Kings is a welcoming community with members from many different denominational backgrounds who enjoy a Bible based, traditional worship style. Come immerse yourself in God's word, sing hymns to beautiful organ music, join in prayer, and receive the Lord's Communion.
Even though we share the same name, not all Lutherans are alike. For example, we are a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS is a conservative church body. We hold to the unchanging Word of God in terms of beliefs and practices. We are the spiritual heirs of Martin Luther, the 16th century monk and Father of the Reformation which opened the door to other Protestant Christian faiths such as Baptist, Methodist, and more. Like many of our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, we ascribe to these great truths: We are saved by GRACE alone, through FAITH alone in CHRIST JESUS alone.
Please visit the 'beliefs' page on this website for a fuller explanation.
A warm welcome. A casual atmosphere. Our worship services incorporate hymns as well as prayers used by the church throughout the ages (e.g. Lord's Prayer and Creeds). The sermons seek to reveal the heart of God so that we might be encouraged and equipped to live lives of greater meaning. We strive to foster a sense of community where others feel seen, heard and valued. We invite you to come as you are and experience the saving and transforming power of God's love for us in Christ Jesus.
Recent services are available on our 'sermons' page and all sermons are uploaded to YouTube. If you want to view past sermon, click the link below. We pray you will be blessed by what you see and hear.
Married. Widowed. Single. Divorced. Retired. Still gainfully employed. Empty nesters. Households buzzing with kids and teens. Lifelong Lutherans. New to the traditions of the Lutheran church. Mature believers. Young in the faith.
We are different yet the same. We have different stories but the same Lord and Savior. There's a place for YOU.
Reverend Jefrey Jensen has been blessed by God to hold the pastoral office for more than 25 years. He served various congregations in New England prior to moving to GA in 2020. He and his wife, Paige, have two grown sons. Pastor Jensen is passionate about sharing life with others. After all, the Chrisitan faith is both taught and caught. Over the years, he has discovered that some of the most meaningful conversations about Jesus Christ with Christians and non-Christians alike take place outside of church - during a shared meal, while hiking or serving the community together.
If you'd like to meet for coffee sometime, contact us. Pastor Jensen will schedule a time to meet at one of the local coffee shops.
Timothy Lutheran in Woodstock recognized a need for a Christian Lutheran Church in the Jasper/Ellijay area and in early 2010 began contacting people in our area. By October 24, 2010 we held our first service and we have been meeting every Sunday since.
On December 4, 2016 King of Kings became a full member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS), celebrating that event with a Chartering Service. Reverend Greg Walton, President of the FL/GA District of the LCMS, officiated.
In the past we have been blessed with a wonderful cadre of retired and interim pastors of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, including Rev. Ernie Knoche and Rev. David Sieg. On August 1, 2020 we installed our first full time Pastor, Pastor Jensen.
With the continued help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we hope to continue growing spiritually and spreading the Word of Jesus Christ here in the North Georgia Mountains!
