BELIEFS For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

Unchanging Truths for an Ever-changing World

Confusion and uncertainty reign in our world. Nowadays, it seems that up is down and left is right. This can leave us shaking our heads in dismay and disbelief.  Thankfully, some things never change.  Like the Christians who have gone before us, we hold to these historic truths:

The Holy Bible

We believe the Holy Bible is the Word of God.  It is without error and the sole source of our Christian beliefs and practices.  It serves as the means by which we come to faith in Jesus Christ and are equipped to live lives of faith.

2nd Timothy 3:16-17

God

We believe in One God. He is One yet Three.  Within the unity of the Godhead, there exist three distinct Persons -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Though distinct, they share the same essence and are coequal in every way.

Matthew 3:13-17, 28:19; John 1:1, 8:58-59, 20:27-29; Acts 5:3-4.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity. In the fullness of time, He took on our humanity, born of the Virgin Mary. He came for the expressed purpose of giving His life as a ransom. He came to suffer the death we rightly deserve, due to our sin, so that we might receive forgiveness and live life that is true life -- now and forever.

Mark 10:45; John 10:10

The Sacraments

Sacraments are sacred acts whereby we receive God's grace personally and tangibly. As a congregation, we recognize two sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.

Holy Baptism

Through this sacred act we are united with Christ in His death and resurrection. God graciously cleanses us from all our sins and adopts us as His sons and daughters. Since we believe baptism is God's "doing," we baptize infants as well as teens and adults.

Romans 6:1-4; Matthew 28:18-20

Holy Communion

We believe that the Lord's Supper is more than a sign or symbol; it is a great mystery.  In a manner defying all human understanding, the Scriptures teach us that Jesus unites His body and blood to the bread and wine. Therefore, when we take communion, we receive the true body and blood of Christ in, with and under the bread and wine. Jesus gives us Himself for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our faith.

1st Corinthians 11:23-30

Serve Others

We believe that serving others not only transforms their lives, but also enriches our own faith, deepening our understanding of God's heart for humanity. It is through selfless service that believers can embody the love of Jesus.  Through our good works, God the Father is glorified.

Matthew 5:16

Social Issues

On social issues, we adhere to God’s unchanging truths. We uphold the dignity of all people, for they are made in God's image. We believe in the sanctity of all human life as well as God's design for marriage, as revealed in Genesis chapter 2. If you want additional information regarding our stance on social issues, please speak to our Pastor or other members in the congregation. You can also visit the Luther Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) website below.  Check out the 'social issues' tab.

Experience Worship

Our worship sets us apart from most Protestant and non-denominational congregations. We believe worship is not something we do for God, but rather it is a wonderful act of God whereby we receive His good gifts of grace for Jesus' sake.

Our worship services follow the pattern established by the Early Church. We remember our baptisms, confess our sins and receive forgiveness for the sake of and by the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. We listen to several Bible readings, drawing from both the Old and New Testaments. Throughout the service, we sing hymns, aided by our organ. The sermons are more expository in nature. Together, we explore what the passage means (What is it saying and why?) and how it applies to us. Holy Communion is offered on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday each month.

Additional services are offered on Wednesday nights during special times of year such as Advent and Lent. Twice a year, we offer services at Engelheim Vineyards in Ellijay.  It's a glorious place to gather for an Easter sunrise service!

TESTIMONIAL I have been a member of King of Kings for 3 years. During that time I went through some personal trials and I don't know what I would have done without my King of Kings "family." The outpouring of support, love and acceptance was vital to my journey of healing.
